September 2008 - Happy 37th Birthday Markham Salon

September 11th marks Markham Salon's 37th Birthday. We opened our doors as Montwood Barber Shop on September 11th 1973 (at the same location where we are at now). Congratulations to our founder Bill Romero. Happy Birthday to us!

August 2008 - Shearing Time (Doing Our Part)

William Romero and Hilda Streicher had a great opportunity to assist their friend, Paula Monarez Diaz of the El Paso Times, and  the Rio Grande Cancer Foundation in raising money to help cancer patients. Markham Salons were also very happy to have been able to donate various wigs and hair pieces to cancer patients. You can the contact the Rio Grande Cancer Foundation at [www.rgcf.org].

Six of Markham Salon's Stylist attended "Pure Form". A two day Aveda cutting course in Dallas, Texas.  Pure Form is the bases for expressing creativity and sharpening creativity edges.

Aveda Earth Month 2008 "Every Drop Matters"

Earth Month 2008 aims to help people in need of clean water around the world.

  • Every 15 seconds a child dies from water-related diseases amounting to nearly 6,000 deaths each day. (Source: Water Treaty) 

  • The average distance that African and Asian women walk to find clean water is 6 km. (Source: Water Treaty)

  • It is 12% more likely that a child will attend school if water is available within a 15 minute walk rather than an one hour walk. (Source: Water Aid)
